They received encouragement from the Bishop of Pembroke, Brendan O'Brien. The new venture is to be called Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy, and it too hopes to begin classes this fall. It will start a full-time one-year liberal arts program, with a diploma given upon successful completion. This year's limit is 20 students who have completed Grade 12 or beyond. Behind the inception of the Academy is the belief that, as we enter the third millennium, North Americans live in a culture "sick unto death," while "there has been a monstrous silence about it in Catholic education." The words are those of the late American Professor William Marra, who lamented that the village atheist had gained control of our culture, while the Catholic culture of Jesus Christ had been undermined from inside. Its founders wish to establish a school loyal to the magisteriurn, helping to build a culture of life and a civilization or love through the spiritual, moral, and intellectual formation of its students. The Academy is intended to foster the ability to read and listen critically, and to prepare students for Christ-like life in society. It plans to teach the Catechisrn or the Catholic Church, philosophy, Christian literature, and the history of Christian culture. |

I cannot adequately express what an exceptional school OLSWA is, and how blessed Canada is to have such a place! I also cannot thank God enough for leading me there...
