On Saturday, December 8th, the Academy celebrated with its annual end-of-fall-semester Formal, the Immaculate Conception Formal.
After a sumptuous meal prepared by our beloved cook, Rachel, we honoured Our Lady with a few hymns and a renewal of the Academy's consecration according to the method of St. Louis de Montfort.
Each student then received a gift from their ‘Advent Angel’, a tradition dating to the early days of the Academy. At the beginning of Advent, each student randomly picks a person’s name ‘from a basket’ for whom they will be an Advent Angel. During Advent each Angel prays for that person, and secretly leaves small notes and gifts. Finally, at the Formal, each person’s clandestine Advent Angel is revealed in a fun presentation of a special gift.
The night ended with festive dancing, including Celtic Ceilidh dance called by Becca Mombourquette.
This year's Formal was memorable, an occasion to celebrate as a community before our Christmas break and to give heartfelt tribute to Our Lady. We pray she was pleased!
