From its humble beginnings in 2000, the year of the Jubilee, your institution has grown steadily in great fidelity to the Magisterium of the Church, following faithfully the principles laid out in Pope John Paul II's Ex Corde Ecclesiae. You strive to offer a strong academic programme as well as a Catholic way of life on your campus, which motivate the students both intellectually and spiritually. I congratulate you for your efforts.
I read with pleasure that Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy is one of only twenty-one Catholic post-secondary institutions, to be listed in The Newman Guide to choosing a Catholic College (2008-2009). They represent the top 10 percent of Catholic Colleges in the United States chosen for their academic excellence and identity. The fact that your College is the only institution in Canada to receive this recognition is impressive.
I wish you well in your endeavor to obtain the right to grant academic degrees. The quality of the post-secondary education you offer is already recognized by some very good Colleges and Universities in the United States, which accept your students in their last year of their Undergraduate studies. It seems right that you should now be granted full recognition as a degree-granting institution.
May Our Lady of Schools, Mother of Knowledge and Love, who brought a delegation of your Academy to the Cathedral of Quebec City on her Feast day last October, give you light and guidance "so that under her protection you may fulfill your mission as Catholic educators, serving God, the Church and our Country".

I have been continually moved and impressed from the beginning of OLSWA's foundation by both the outstanding quality of its scholastic education and its dynamic orthodoxy. The spirit of genuine community, enthusiasm, and sacrifice among the students and teachers is edifying, and these and other distinctive aspects of the academy make it one of the positive signs that a new springtime of hope is not only possible but well underway. This is a gem of a college—one of the more or less hidden treasures of the Church in North America.

I am pleased to lend my unqualified support to Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy. It is attempting to do something that is vitally needed in our current Canadian society, that is, to provide an education that is centred not on political correctness, but on truth. At the same time, it is doing something that is vitally needed for the Catholic communtiy, namely, to prepare educated leaders who are faithful to their Church and her tradition. I am pleased also to acknowledge the dedication, faith and courage that are exemplified by the founders and faculty members of this institution. They are selfless and unflagging in their determination that Our Lady Seat of Wisdom will fulfill its bright and noble promise. |
