Kathleen Dunn

My name is Kathleen Dunn and I am from Hamilton, Ontario, and currently going into my third year at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy. Growing up in a Catholic family of eight, my faith has always been something very dear to me, as it has been nurtured, encouraged and supported during my life. Fortunately, between attending Catholic schools and homeschooling for a few years, I've been able to learn about the Catholic faith through my elementary and secondary education. Little did I know, though, that going to Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy would open wide these doors to the beauty of the Catholic faith - more than I ever could have imagined.  

To be sure, it was through the prompting from my parents than a full decision on my part to attend the Academy. Besides my sister attending in previous years, I did not know much about the unique school, and wasn't sure if it would be the right place for me. But, as God calls us all to take leaps of faith, I jumped right in to the community of OLSWA, and haven't regretted one day. The Academy is a perfect fit for all different types of people who all share the same goal: to learn about and live out the Catholic faith in our daily lives. Students and staff at the Academy realize that the Catholic faith should be the summit and focus of their entire lives, and this truly shows through the classroom lectures, community life, and spiritual life that is fostered at OLSWA.  The education I’ve received from classes at the Academy – faithful to the Magisterium – has blown me away.  It is amazing how intricate, beautiful, and enriching Catholicism is. The values I've learned from the close-knit community have made such a positive difference in my life. 

As a busy community, full of clubs and events to be involved in, there is never a dull moment. I took a special interest in the Pro-Life Club, as the pro-life movement has always been a major passion for me. In my second year, I inherited the position of the president of the current Pro-Life club.  In this community that is 100% pro-life, the opportunities to pray for and share the pro-life message with the world around us are endless. I've also had the exciting experience of performing as a lead role in our school's musical production of Oliver in my first year at OLSWA.     

I can truly say that my experience at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy has been the most fulfilling of my entire life. I've fallen so deep in love with Our Lord, Our Lady, the saints and my Catholic faith through the daily life and academics of the Academy - my life will never be the same. I am so eternally grateful for all that the Academy has brought to my life, and would encourage anyone looking for a solid post-secondary education to prayerfully discern attending the Academy. You truly can't know how fulfilling it is until you've experienced it for yourself.
