Scott Murray ('08)Three-Year Program Graduate
Killalloe, ON
Concentrations: Philosophy, Theology
I entered OLSWA in 2005, and in 2008 I graduated with a Certificate of Christian Humanities with concentrations in philosophy and theology. I chose Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy because I thought God was calling me to the priesthood, but I was too scared to enter seminary. After much rationalizing, OLSWA seemed like a good compromise. Even though my initial intentions may have been cowardly, I’m grateful for them. I think the most important question that should be on the hearts of all Catholics today is, “how do we create a culture of life?” OLSWA’s mission is to give its students the tools they need to build that culture – each student contributing in a unique way. With that said, the students aren’t saints, and life is messy at times just like everywhere else. That’s probably the most valuable lesson I learned during my three years at the Academy – I’m messed up, but now I have some knowledge, maybe a little wisdom, and a lot of friends to help me do my part in creating a culture of life. After graduating from OLSWA I transferred my credits to St. Philip’s Seminary in Toronto, where I earned a Bachelor of Thomistic Thought. I am currently enrolled at both the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas and the Pontifical North American College in Rome, where I am being formed to be a priest for the Diocese of Pembroke, Ontario. I owe a great deal to the faculty, students and staff of Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy.
