Before sinking too deeply into the new semester, on the evening of Saturday, January 28, 2012, the OLSWA community came together for the Winter Formal dinner and dance, held in the basement of St. Hedwig’s Church. At this annual event, the guys and gals have a chance to dust off their fancy attire for the “ball” and to enjoy a relaxing evening of fine dining and music. Appetizers and punch were served at six o’clock, followed by dinner at seven: fresh bread and garlic butter served with small plates of delicious hors d’oeuvres, then a main course of chicken parmesan, linguini with marinara sauce, and asparagus. Dessert was a mouth-watering tiramisu, lovingly crafted by OLSWA’s own resident Italian student, Rebecca Wilson, who also planned out the dinner menu. After dinner, the students enjoyed themselves dancing to music provided by DJ Joey Hayden (’11), as well as OLSWA’s own band, “Survived 88.”
The students are very grateful to have the opportunity for a fun and lovely evening out during the January bleakness. Many thanks go out to Mr. and Mrs. Gould, Dean and Assistant Dean of students, for all their hard work preparing the meal. Thank you to the Student Activity Council for organizing the event. And thanks also to the young ladies from the Barry’s Bay community who volunteered to wait tables.
Students enjoy an Italian feast.
