Scholarships and bursaries are a great way to make a difference in the lives of deserving students at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy. While OLSWA strives to keep tuition at an affordable level, there are still many students who rely on the help of bursaries and scholarships to pursue their studies. Your gift makes their dreams possible.
By supporting a scholarship or bursary, you will recognize and reward a deserving student, and you will also received a tax-deductible receipt for your gift. One hundred percent of your gift will go directly to the student.
Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to both incoming and current students, and are based on academic excellence. Criteria for academic excellence include the student’s GPA as well as such elements as attendance, participation in classes, course load and level of difficulty, and contribution to the intellectual culture at OLSWA (or for incoming students, to the culture of their school and community before coming to OLSWA). Currently all our scholarships are annual scholarships, in that they are awarded each year, and are funded on an annual basis by individual donors or through OLSWA’s general scholarship fund.
A full list of OLSWA’s annual scholarships can be found here, and currently range from $500 - $2,000.
To establish a new scholarship, please contact Maria Reilander, Senior Development Officer. [All scholarships must be approved by the Scholarship and Bursary Committee and the Academic Senate.]
To support the current scholarships, please make a cheque payable to Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy, and indicate “scholarship fund” or the name of the particular scholarship in the memo line.
Bursaries
Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy has many deserving students who would gratefully benefit from the financial assistance offered by a bursary. Bursaries are offered to candidates who have demonstrated financial need. Application for, and if approved, participation in the work study program is normally a precondition of the award of a bursary. Establishing a bursary is a great way for your Knights of Columbus council or Catholic Women’s League to offer assistance to a deserving student from your area or diocese.
